Hi there guys, not been here for a while which is a good sign! 1999 S reg deisel injection (a basic model)
anyway, i'm havin a problem with the clutch. the pedal went really hard and would hardly budge. husband fiddled about with it, telling me to push the pedal down. when i did pedal hit the deck with a snap. the bracket holding the long pointy bit of the clutch master cylinder had snapped.
what's wrong guys? this is the second clutch master i've replaced in a year. the last one was at the same time last year and although it might just be coincidence, could it have anything to do with the weather when its really cold?( a long shot i know) anyway, hubby put on another new cmc and the clutch pedal is back to being solid and hardly movin. can anyone give me a clue here? by the way i'm well p'd off with it this time!
also, the engine revs and i've always thought it was the fuel injection pump in the tank but someone's just told me my FL doesn't have an intank pump, is that right? so what's causing it? its been on the sooperdooper electronic tester thingy and its not picked up the fault ......help:(

Hi
Had the same problem. The shaft that goes through the bellhousing which operates the clutch fork becomes very sticky. Mine ceased up and I couldn't operate the clutch. Lubricate the shaft where it goes into the gearbox, not an easy job but worth the try.

Spray the shaft with penetrating oil. Or if it's really seized, then use a blowtorch on it as well, but not when you've just sprayed it.....:flame:
