Excuse my ignorance but my clutch pedal has gone loose. Do I have to put fluid in anything? Where do I put it?:eek: I have a 1995 90 petrol 2.5.

Soundslike the fluid is probably a bit low then, drawing some air in.
Lift bonnet.
Left hand side facing windscreen there are 2 white reservoirs.
The one on furthest left has a big circular attachment, thats the brake reservoir and servo unit, the other one is the clutch reservoir.
Unscrew the lid and see what the level is, top up with clutch fluid, DOT4 is ok on most but think TD5 takes a different sort.
If it gets too low it may need bleeding.

Thank you Smiley. Just checked and it is nearly empty

Result! topping up may sort it or at least stop it getting any worse, if it doesnt improve or gets tad harder to engage gears it means air has been pushed down pipe and will need bleeding out, not a difficult job. :)

You need to ask the question as to why the level was low, clutch fluid doesn't evaporate so you may find there is a leak somewhere.

Yup leaky hose or slave cylinder it will evedent as your bell housing would be wet at the plug hole
Or master cylinder usulay wet inside bulk head above pedel

Put clutch fluidm in and clutch has resistance. Is that it fixed? Cant find any leeks but fluid full to the brim now !

If you can't see any leaks then yes check it daily then weekly if it don't get lower your ok if it drops there is something wrong .

If you haven't already then keep the wading plug out of your bell housing. Mine leaks slightly (top up once a month) and if you leave the plug out then no risk of clutch contamination. Just stick it back in for the day if you are off road

You obviously didn't check for leeks as you put it properly

So keep an eye on that fluid and if there is a plug take it out!
