The clutch on your Defender is hydraulic. I had the same problem. Mines an ex military and had two springs either side of the pedal. I assume civilian models are the same. I just took them off. Much lighter.
The clutch is hydraulic already on all 90/110 and defenders.
What age and engine is the vehicle in question? You can fit a clutch pedal from a 300tdi / td5 that have spring assistance (if your vehicle is earlier than these models), this helps a little.

Either a TD5 spring assisted pedal assembly or a V8 master cylinder are the way to go for a lighter pedal.

I had the same problem with my girlfriend.... so I traded her in for a newer model with longer, stonger legs. Had no complaints since and it worked out cheaper. Think Land Rover.... women tend to shade our judgement
Buying the missus boots or allowing her to wear shoes could be an option.

Yes. It has a wider bore so is a noticeable difference. When the master cylinder went on my old V8 I slung an emergency spare on that I had in my shed. My clutch pedal was quite a bit heavier. It was a standard cylinder .:doh: Needless to say it wasn't too long before I replaced it with another V8 cylinder. PM Iannotts to see what he found as I believe he's just fitted a V8 cylinder to his 110.

Our defender 90 had a heavy clutch for me at first but you just get used to it, I now swap quite happily between that and a freelander and don't think about it anymore and I'm a girl :cheer2:

Cos it would be cheaper to get the TD5 clutch assy. with the rest of the car attached. Either way i would have a newer better looking model. lol
Some things for me to look in to.
as said b4 If she likes riding my landy i might be able to convince her that its worth spending silly money on a second newer TD5 in the coming years. My argument so far is saving money on maintenance bills and throwing money away every few years for a newer car.
Im chipping away a bit at a time till she has no reason to object.
