Clutch pedal sticking down?

Ok, so from what I can tell the recent cold weather is causing my clutch pedal to stick down on start up and then has to be pulled up from behind. After a few minutes it seems to be ok but if it hasn't been used for a few hours then it happens again so I'm assuming the recent cold spell is playing a part? It hasn't happened before this.

id say you need new master cylinder and slave unless bracket (if external slave ) slave attaches to is breaking

Thanks, that's what Google said too but I wasn't sure why it was happening just when it was cold.

Had the same problem on my MGF and it was the clutch actuating arm which had siezed in the gearbox. The heat of having been run for a while expands the gearbox casing enough for it to release.

First look at the clutch lever which has a shaft though the gearbox casing. This often seizes up. I use some WD40 to get it free then once free put a couple of drops of engine oil in on the bush. It will keep it free if you put 1 drop of oil on every 6 months. After this it can be the clutch bearing sticking on the gearbox slider. Both of these problems are what causes the clutch hydraulics and gearbox bracket to fail in the first place.
When the assembly is this dry is will cause problems!!

Hi cooter that has just happened to me on my drive, I can see a piston Thats lose with a splined end that rusty and its floating about, should it be ridged or held by a bracket? your advice would be welcomed . Bill.
