Here’s one for you my clutch master cylinder is knackered, so got onto the net and bought what I was told the correct cylinder part no AEU 1714, it duly arrived and I removed my old cylinder and offered up the new one, but if I fit the new one I can’t get the top off to fill it, the filler bottle is to tall by about an inches and half, I contacted the seller who maintained that this is the correct cylinder, anyway I sent it back no good to me. I then contacted my local Land rover garage and ordered a Cylinder, went to pick it up at 1pm today, only to find this one identical to the one off the internet, I told the Land Rover Parts manager this will not fit and explained why, he said well this is the correct one for your discovery, but let’s have a look, he looked under the bonnet and agreed no this will not fit, but let’s look at my own discovery also 1994, No it will not fit mine either, the makers must have messed up on the design side, so where does that leave me, STUCK that’s where. He went on to say there is no point me contacting Cradock’s or Paddocks because they will just send out the same rubbish. ????????????

The discovery 300 clutch master cylinder has a different plunger arm fitting that the 200, the 200 has a hoop to fit the clutch pedal, so change the plunger!!! Tried that the 300 plungers is pressed into the inner sleeve that also holds the seals, so can’t change the plunger.

Sorry yes this part no is correct, it appears the suppliers R.I.L Genuine Parts have copied master cylinders incorrectly.
