unlucky. ive been putting off changing my troublesome clutch and cylinders for 2 years now. its gonna be a b*****d.

Your looking at IDR out, Gearbox Out. Either use or a PIT or a ramp unless you want to put your hippo up on blocks and work on your back. But the last thing you want is a 50 kilo lump on your head/arm/bodypart.

saying that people have done it. as for the parts. i xapect these are landrover only parts. so its off to the stealership for you.

I could be completely wrong of course.

The slave cylinder and master cylinder are not one unit on the TD4, The gearbox has to be
dropped to allow access to the slave cylinder which is located inside the bell housing, unlike the slave on a petrol which is on the outside of the housing and much easier to change.
I had mine changed last year and it cost 550 for the slave, master, and new clutch, man at the garage said it was the worst job he has ever had to do.

OMG  what a crap design, bad, very bad...........that's even worse than the PG1 gearbox, where the slave cylinder is attached by a **** poor bracket.

My bracket broke last year, clutch pedal fell to the floor in traffic. Fixed it at the roadside using a heavy duty cable tie........................still holding. Crap design on the PG1 too, but at least it's simple.

Ere NI.
I have never heard of a clutch bracket failing on a rover 220 pg1 box. Is it a diff bracjet- do you know?
No not the black bracket that bolts into the bell housing, it's got imperial thread sizes so straight from BL parts bin.

It's the actual plastic flange on the FL1 slave cylinder, held in place by a plastic C-clip, something could be fabricated, but just never got round to it and the cable tie does the job.
