Hi Everyone and thanks in advance for any help!!

On the way to work this morning my clutch suddenly felt very different.

Usually it is very springie from top to bottom but somthisom happened and not the top half of travel is loose and doesn't spring back up and the bottom half of travel still allows me to change gear but it is not as hard to depress as before.

I hope this makes sense.

Thanks Again!!

Basics first, have you checked the fluid level?

This is the Inside of the clutch fluid filler cap

Okey Dokey,

check underneath the bellhousing, is the wading plug there, the owners manual or a search on here will show such a thing. if there is one, undo and and see if the fluid comes out?

Cheers

The seals may have failed in either the master or slave cylinder. If the bell housing hasn't got a wading plug the evidence would be obvious either via a puddle of dot4 or fluid splattered all over the underside of the transfer box. Isn't fluid dripping down into the drivers footwell a tell tale sign of master cylinder seal failure? You could always refill and bleed the system just to confirm where you have a leak which is what I did when experiencing the same problem, this at least kept me on the road 24 hours at a time.

I've got a very slow leak on my slave cylinder too. It's that slow you can't really tell at the wading plug hole. If you didn't know what you were looking for you probably wouldn't be able to tell. I'm also having to fill the reservoir up occasionally.
@neilly can we call you Nelly from now on? It's got a certain ring to it ;):p

Thanks everyone, and especially neilly for calling him Nelly this whole time. I've concluded I've got a small clutch fluid leak as the main symptoms of low fluid have appeared over the last week or so.

How would I best find what fluid I would specifically need ?

Thanks again Nelly

Press the search button.
Morning grumpy :p

Dot 4 or Dot 5.1
IIRC Dot 5 is fully sythetic and shouldn't be mixed with others.
