Clutch change issue...

the best alignment tool is a 17mm deep reach socket on a half inch extension bar.

Give it a lot of wiggling and heaving, and it should drop in. If not try realigning the clutch. The best way ive found is to look through the hole. Line the splines up with the spigot bush so its centralised, and then look and see if the fingers are all equal to. If that makes sense... :)

Thanks for the input guys, I decided to un-do it and re-align using the broom handle again, only this time I whittled the end down to fit inside the spigot bush. Seems spot on now, I can't see it from the front because the gearbox is in the way but I run my finger right round it while it was in and the sprung fingers seemed equal distance all the way round the broom handle.

Just taking another break before I attempt it again.
Might try the long reach 17mm and make sure, sounds better than a bit of wood :D

Cheers again, I'll let you know how it goes.

Got acres of welding to do once this is done, MOT 6th of april and because neighbours have been complaining about me working on it I've had letters from the council saying it's an "unroadworthy abandoned vehicle" it'll be removed within 21 days and all that **** so I just want to get it mobile again.

oh yeah you can also turn the engine enough by the front pulley if thats easier RE mads thought :)

Been turning the bloody thing over by grabbing the flywheel to do up the cover plate bolts!
Arms are killing me just from that let lone trying to lift the gearbox.
I didn't think of that though, I've been trying to turn the front output flange which is a bit awkward when you're right under the bellhousing.
I shall give it a go :)

All sorted, took the clutch back off and aligned it properly with a bit of carving on the end of the broom handle, offered up the bellhousing and it went straight in.
Much easier than I expected.
Cheers for the help fellas!
