On my LHD Freelander 2004 TD4, in order to get at my clutch master cylinder I need to remove the L-shaped plastic box containing the ECU etc., which restricts access, to say the least. But how do I get it off ?! I can see one side is a sort of clip, but levering that with a screwdriver doesn't free the whole box. I'm sure it's the same as RHD (which has easier access to clutch cylinder), so how is it held in? Thanks R

Shouldnt need to....Shove your arm down and pull the rubber cap off the master cylinder, then top up the fluid using a wee funnel and a bit of tubing. Its a bit of a fiddle the first time, but easier than faffing about trying to shift the boxes.

I know fine well where it is on LHD versions - Mine is LHD and needs to be bled once every couple of months due to a small air leak - that is what I was talking about.

OK ! Sorry for assuming you were on RHD, just Looks like horrendous struggle to get in there. Did you ever change cylinder or just Keep topping up? What were the symptoms - pedal frees clutch at bottom of travel or sinking pedal. Thanks R

The bite point gets lower and lower until it will not select first or reverse with the engine running. A quick bleed gets it going as normal again for a couple of months.
I have a replacement master cylinder, I just need to be bothered fitting it.
