Here we go....

The clutch had appeared to have gone on my 300TDi Disco. S Reg.

So in these times of recession (and me being a tight fisted git) I decided to do the job myself. I changed the clutch, and whilst the pad on the old plate seemed to be OK, the springs and other bits just fell out.

I replaced the whole thing, cover, plate and bearing. I had a hell of a job getting the bell housing back on, but eventually I did. I also replaced the clutch fork whilst I was at it.

Now then, I have exactly the same symptoms as I started with, ie, really difficult getting into gear with the engine running. If I stop the engine, I can put it in gear, but the clutch is definately dragging on the flywheel. Its as if there isn't enough seperation of the Flywheel - Clutch plate.

One thing I have ***just*** noticed is that some suppliers sell a kit of clutch parts, including a Spigot Bush. I don't recall taking one off the old clutch, and certainly didn't put a new one on. I didn't receive one in the kit I bought.

Now then, I am wondering if the problem is either:

1. The Spigot bush fell off & needs to be installed

or

2. The clutch hydraulic system is working correctly. I have checked the hydraulic fluid level in the clutch cylinder, and its OK.

or

3. Is it something completely different?

Cheers in advance....

Happened to me.... removed the box twice due to a new but sh*t clutch kit. If u decide to remove the gearbox again replace the pushrod too. What u can try now after u'll be certain that the system doesnt have air left in it is to take off the slave cylinder(without disconnecting the hydraulic pipe) and put a 6mm nut or someting within as to force the pushrod to go deeper. It worked for me once....u'll be amazed how an old pushrod can be thread and shorter with up to 5 mm.
