Hello guys,

I have a funny noise when I'm turning wheel full or half when braking and turning wheel at the same time. The noise is like metal catching/clicking fairly loudly almost at every half turn of the steering wheel in either direction, coming from the front of the car, I think from the drivers side. It stops happening when I release the brake. So turning into junctions, parking spaces, tight round abouts. The only way I don't hear this is when I slow down enough before any turn and go round without braking or if I'm braking in a straight line. Any ideas?

Get underneath it and see if your brake calipers are still fixed. Also grab the anti roll bar and listen for any sounds. Check your drop links as well and see of any of the rubber boots on the wish bones are drive shaft have perished

I have read a fair bit about this and these seem to be pretty much the answers I find but what I'm trying to understand is if it's anything to do with the calipers then why would you only hear the noises when turning the wheel? And if it was anything to do with the drive shaft and attachments, why only when the brakes are applied? I'm no mechanic and I'm a women so please forgive me but is it possible that the driveshaft and attachments can only make these noises when the brakes were applied and vice versa with the calipers only when I'm turning the wheel?

If you aren't moving while the brakes are on and you turn the steering wheel. Then the brakes will be trying to stop the road wheels from rotating, while the steering is trying to rotate them to complete the turn.

If you are moving and it's making these noises, then check for play in all the ball joints. I doubt it's the drive shafts, but don't overlook them.

Did yer get this resolved in the end?
No, I got my car fixer man to check everything but he couldn't find anything wrong with it. Even had new brakepads But interestingly when I have my car jack washed, for about half an hour after it doesn't do it so I'm thinking its just a simple lack of lubrication somewhere maybe?
