Check your break pads, my dads disco's had similar thing, one was trying to come out cos there was no clip holding it in caliper, another had broken off its metal backing. Not fun.

Oh, and sounds daft, but make sure your wheels are all tight on, after me MOT, the **** didnt tighten the rear wheel up properly (he bent the standard brace (in bin) and couldnt find a 27mm socket............) so when braking, then when driving i heard a knocking noise, 3 outta 5 nuts were loose, t'other 2 were finger tight

Loose caliper, or pitted brake disk come to mind too....

thanks ile start with calipers, when i got pads n disks done last, had to take it back, cos i had a hell of a rattle from front end the div hadnt done something he was ment to, also managed to snap me locking key, i dont use him anymore:mad:
