So... starting to tackle the easy niggling things on the new addition to my life - and what's spoiling the view is cloudy / milky front fog lamp lenses - they work ok (which is clearly a bonus) but they have a white film on the inside. My question is can this be removed (e.g. cotton bud & alcohol) or is it embedded into the glass? Has anyone come across this and is it a fix or a replace? Many thanks!

i had the same problem.... my fix probaly wont be what your looking for. the first one just fell off and the second came off when i was green laning

You could try cleaning the inside of the lens with something tied / fixed to a kebab stick through the bulb hole.
That's exactly my plan, good thinking! I just wondered if anyone had experience of same and knew if it would "wipe" off (maybe with some cleaning agent) before I dismantled a unit to try! The clouding is something I've seen on a lot of facelift D2's.
Optimistically the light will come out simply, and it's a case of some diligent cleaning with cotton bud / skewer rag tool, and then "replacement is the reverse of disassembly"
Realistically, I'll end up breaking all the fixings taking it out, find the clouding is embedded/etched in the glass, and then once fixed back with epoxy and tie-wraps, find the light doesn't work!
Thanks Yorkie - I'll have a closer look tonight and see... if so I'll try the fixes on YouTube. I perhaps assumed that it was internal as it didn't look like the usual dull discolouration on headlamps.
I've plenty of that... just finesse and skill needed! Thank you for the encouragement. It's probably not the most important fix, but it's like all these things, if you keep on top of them.....

I am surprised, hopefully it is just clouding . Most of the ones I have seen, the inside chrome has started to delaminate. Mine are brown inside from the chrome falling off.
There are Chinese copies available at a reasonable price if all else fails.

Thanks Neilly.... guess I can take some comfort that the chrome looks to still be chrome (through the cloudy lens!) I'll have a pootle around this evening (rain dependent) and see if I can polish / fix. Failing that - off to that famous on-line retailer.....

Thanks Brian - really appreciate the link - but as I wanted some reliability in my world (to off-set the beloved D2......) I have MacBook - don't think that link works on these! I seen somewhere that the bumper cover / finisher needs to be removed via the retaining screws, then providing access to the lamp, is that right?
Interesting that there are threads on other (non-LR) forums addressing similar clouding issues on different marques (Audi / VW) - seems to be a theme - so to earlier posts above, if its not on the external then I'll try a long stick and rag approach!

Mine are the same and I've got a bottle of Meguairs Plast RX Plastic cleaner/polish/restorer sitting waiting to be used! Got to do the headlamps as well...look closely and you'll see it on the outside

Thanks markyzs - hope it is, as the chances of removing the bumper covers and then the lights without breaking anything is pretty slim given my ham-fisted approach! Good call on the Meguairs.
