Close call with side steps

Was checking the VCU today which was all good and working fine, however after I lowered the FL down I though the ally side step looked like it had some play in it, I just lightly put my foot down on it and **** me it fell off!! check underneath and the mounting brackets front and back were rusted right through I think it was only the paint on them that was keeping them on. Hate to think what might have happened if they had of dropped off and hit the ground at speed. Anyway now off and added to the scrap pile to be weighed in. So be warned if you have side steps give them a good check.
