Clonk!
whilst cornering .. came from ( or sounded like under the front seats.
Cornered to the other side ... Clonk!

Ok .. got home, crawled underneath with a crowbar ..
Gear box mountings ok..
Can't move anything
Can't see any signs of movement ..

Any ideas anyone?
Oh and i shook the wheels front and rear to see if it was bearing or axel related, nothing.

Simon

You need to jack up the front end, get an assistant to work the steering whilst you check all of the ball joints, the relay and steering box. Was there there any feedback in the steering wheel when the clonk happened?

Col

No.. it's not on the steering, the rods are new heavy duty ones with new ball joints.
It's coming from the back of the transmission .. under the front seats , or so it sounds

What about the rear half shafts? if the end nut is loose? .. this would vibrate along the drive shaft ( i'll check this when i'm home )
Spring hangers? Aha .. right ill look at that too .. any idea what the torque is for the Ubolts?

Jack appropriately and slip out a shackle bolt. Check for wear or a shoulder on the shaft.
Mine did this and I’d lost a good millimetre in girth.

Yep, I'd agree with @Bobsticle - check those spring shackles/bolts/bushes for wear or breakage. I've also had diff housings come loose on the springs, particularly when the centering bolt wears or breaks.

None of these things will necessarily look obvious at first glance but could easily clonk as you describe.
