Hi i am looking at buying an aircompressor for my garage should make alot of jobs easier. I then got the idea to get a sand balser kit and clean up under my 1997 disco then waxoyl it myself. Anyone done this before or got any advice on the topic before i go ahead? thanks

Get a large tank and a powerful motor if you want to sandblast...otherwise you'll be stopping and starting waiting for it to fill up

Depends how far you wanna go on that - I've never done it but spoken to people about sandblasting - extremely messy, difficult to perfect - you may end up stripping back to bare metal on some places by mistake. Plus you would proabably want to strip a lot of the gubbins off to get better access to everything. I'd be more inclined to jet wash the krap out of the undercarriage then go to town on it with a selection of wire brushes then waxoyl it. Nice job for a hot summers day!

agree with that ^^ an talking of ramps, I'm assuming you got one or got use of one, cos if you gonna try sandblasting by jacking up or summat, you gonna cause yourself a lot of pain, not to mention the damage you will do to the underside of the disco. Steam clean and waxoyl or get it done professional would be my advice.
I have seen fuel pipes (plastic) damaged by blasting to the point of letting in air (but not diesel out) which caused a nightmare trying to find a poor running fault.
The stuff gets everywhere and as mentioned may take off paint where you cannot get to to recover/protect.
Steam clean, then compressed air to force out as much water as possible, then leave a couple of days to dry out then waxoyl.

We cant say that as we don't wash our vehicles in fords as we can contaminate the water and cause problems for the water life. We drive them for the scenary and because it is our right to pass and re pass the unsurfaced highway. the fact that it helps clean the underside ofour vehicles is a bonus! Jai
I dont think you will get a kit that is suitable for what you are thinking of doing. Most small kits are for spot blasting which is as it says spots. To do large areas the sand will be everywhere.
I had a shot blast cabinet a while ago and my 15cfm compressor with 150lt tank stuggled to run it for big jobs large alloy wheels took about an hour to do right.
