Series 3 clean/not bodged fitting of a stereo into dash

has anyone got examples of a clean stereo/radio fit into a series 3 dash.
i'm interested in trying to use the panel/cutout to the right of the centre panel.

i'm interested in what people have managed without cutting up the rest of the dash too much or adding extra bodges.

The dash is fairly shallow, but now that CDs are on the way out and mechless DIN units are more common it should be easier than before.
has anyone seen any good examples that look all right?

I think the main problem is finding a modern unit that doesn't look out of place in a series Landy...

that has crossed my mind, but i don;t think there's many choices.
At least in that position it is obscured fairly well by the steering wheel.

my dash didn't have that cut out

will be interested to see how you get on i always thought it would look out of place, unless you found an old fashion looking radio.

Yeah it's not right in any way is it

wouldn't you need 100w per channel in a series? that's only 25 you wouldn't hear it over the engine

I have the cut out but my radio is in the cubby box. Problem with that location is making sure the radio fits the depth behind the cut out.

anyone ever actually seen somthing fitted here? i assume that's what it is designed for, but my guess was most recent radios were too deep to use.

If I ever get as far as the dash with my rebuild I was thinking of sticking a CB radio in there - or a bank of switches for work lights etc. Probably a CB.

Isn't that what it's for? A bank of switches?

Dunno, would the drivers knee keep hitting the switches though? It's been a while since my dash was where it should be...

what about just having a 3.5mm jack connection to connect an ipod or whatever, and run the speakers off an amp?

I stuck my radio where the dial templates are, as I dont have that cut out to the right. It does stick forward too far and I now wish I hadn't done it. When I get round to replacing the dash I may just stick with an MP3 and an amp.

You can buy a bluetooth unit for your bathroom with ceiling speakers. Im sure it could be adapted for the tratter. Auto connect as soon as you turn the starting handle and your iphone is away and running its battery down.
