Even if i went back home and picked on up for half the price i still got to drive it bac over here and then buy winter tyres for it

yeah i've seen em for chump change on t'internet but it still means getting it back here and then insuring it. insurance here is baces on value not engine size. works out a lot cheaper.

+ it does have a fantastic service history. the last ovner actually ran out of space so started writing the detrails on the inside cover of the log book.
also, he did only 5000km per year between full services.

I suppose you've got to ask yourself how desperate your are for this motor at this point in time.
No doubt you're worried that you may not see another like this for some time.
Weigh up the pros and cons of travelling to the uk sourcing an alternative motor and getting it back, plus any other additional costs, and ask yourself is it worth it or should I just bide my time?

Well i need some concrete voting here. should i get it???. its doing my head in. i really like it, got the price down a bit but still seems pricey but it would suit my winter needs and mean I wouldn't be risking my beloved defender.

The trouble is, winter is just around the corner. it will start snowing in about 2 months so need something sorted. I don't want to risk using my defender again as it was quite frankly ****e last year in the snow and ice.

Really???

What tyres are you using, do you use chains?

In what way risking?

I live in austria and when it snows here it really snows. + its all winding mountain roads where we live and so driving conditions are poor. last year my defender was not so good. trouble is, it has a 2" lift and bloody great mud tyres. when you break it just starts to spin

Maybe you should think about changing the tyres for the change in weather.

BFG muds. they are poop in the snow. i did start using chains but the trouble is, you are only allowed to use them in deep snow or ice so it ,means constantly putting the on and taking the off. its a pain in arse really

Yeah but i would rather just garage it. i have put a lot of time and money into that car and don't want anything to happen. besides it seats only 2 and so to go skiing with mates it is impractical.

Do you think that the rr will be any better?

Yeah kind of. we have a company vw toureg with pretty much everything this range has. it handles sweet. the rr has abs and air suspension that can obviously be lowered right down

besides i won't loose sleep over the rr being damaged. also there is the chassis damage to my defender to consider. it has rust enough under there, don't need to make it worse
