2000 W reg Citroen Xsara Hatchback. (NOT the people carrier type!)

Used to be a 2.0 HDi (Cam belt broke and took the engine with it so obviously it isn’t at the moment.)

70,000 miles (Again a little irrelevant where the engine is concerned).

4 brand new tyres fitted 2 days before the cam belt went.

Side impact airbag warning light is permanently lit on the dash but this is due to a sensor, not a fault with the airbag.

Rest of the car is in good condition and everything else works – no rust or damage other than usual age related stuff.

MOT runs out September.

Tax runs out End of December.

Sensible offers welcome for with / without tax.

Buyer collects - Portsmouth area. (Obviously it’s a non-runner).

If you want any other info please let me know.

nope - no-one looked - coz he cant get it to a garage easily.

No just suggesting that until head pulled, it could be a couple of valves,head gasket and cam belt or new engine.

Have you thought about ebaying it?

I think he did - no takers.

So I thought someone on here could possibly make a buck?

too expensive IMHO the engine would cost £100-250 and looking on ebay

CITROEN XSARA 1.9 D SX 5DR Hatchback for sale in Leicester | Auto Trader as an example.

I'm too far away but I personally would only give scrap price of £140-160 if I was keen, If someone did want it then personally £200 is most I reckon your get.

The way to get their money back is look on ebay completed listings see what sells, sell the bits that do like alt,starter, pas pump- tow down scrap yard loosen wheel bolts outside and remove battery.

I cashed in the disco (300tdi) cat last week and got £65 (Nationwide Metal Recycling Ltd.)
Asked for a price on scrapping a 406 2.0 TD. Was told that French diesel cars have massive cats and are worth between £150 & £200 - not that it helped as dad had let it go for £150
Cash in the cat and battery.
Sell the wheels and tyres on fleebay and then weigh in the rest?
