is there anything similar to a cigarette lighter in a series 3 to power numerous gadgets like a modern car?

cant you just wire in a ciggy lighter

I fitted a Dash panel from Mud Stuff and wired up 2 Cig Lighter power outlets and 3 switches.

There should be two small sockets to the left of the clocks. Red one is 12v and the black one is ground.

yeah i saw the 2 holes and thats why im wondered if they oculd be used to power things, is it possible to wire a lighter socket from those 2 holes?

You can cigarette lighter leads in accessory shops with 3-4 sockets one end & plug the other ,you could take the plug off & wire into the back of the sockets or find plugs to fit the ones on the dash, then wire the lead which went to the centre of cig lighter to + red & the outside to - black.

If you can't get the proper plugs I believe Maplins sell something that fits.

i fitted one to mine by wiring in behind the terminals mentioned, then through a fuse box worked well powered lamp etc no problem dont kow if you need the fuse box but figured it wouldnt hurt! ran the radio through another fuse too! its pretty easy as you have the earth there already behind the clocks

I got hold of a cigarette lighter socket attached to a 2 metre length of cable. I ran this (via a trip) straight to the battery. It is quite usefull because I leave it folded up in the dash out of sight when not in use.
