Spent hours last night trying to find where the central heating is powered from, as it had blown a fuse we couldn't find.

Turns out the previous owner had put pine paneling over lots of things including the fused switch for the heating spur

Also turns out out ring main isn't a ring

It's turning into a nightmare !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I still think you need need a weekend away mate

i think its tim;s DIY could be the problem:eek:

Not my DIY.....one of the previous owners.

Looks like every time they wanted another plug socket, they just tapped nto the nearest cable.

We managed to trace lots of the wiring back, and as far as we can tell the whole of the kitchen and the heating system is running off the back of a plug socket in the living room

The downstairs seems to be not a ring or radial, but star wired....and not back to the main fuse but to a small junction box under the bathroom floor!!!!

Basically another mad week of rewiring trying to get it finished before the new carpets arrive to be fitted!!!!

And no, I'm not doing it myself, I had the sense early on to call in a professional electrician...and he's struggling to work out what the hell is going on and why the house hasn't burnt down yet.

It's looking very likely that I won't be able to take a whole weekend out this side of Christmas........

I was just going to post that the weekend was definitely out for me.....

....but one day, I might be able to swing that......possibly.

Next weekend is the last before Xmas for me (busy the weekend after) and the contents of my house are still elsewhere, got a shower to tile, living room to paint, and more.....

Actually, I'm being unrealistic still thinking there's a possibility....it's just that I really want to go :(

BTW the weather report I just saw implied cold and dry for the weekend

I just found out today I have Saturday off, from reading previous posts it sounds like the meeting place is Burway road, is that in town or the gravel car park at the top?
