Can anyone recomend an upgraded chip for a 2001 2.5 diesel Range Rover. Looking for improved Torque , acceleration and if possible mpg

Be very careful with them. The engines have inherent head problems, and the chips can bring an early onset of that problem if they aren't done properly and tuned to your specific car.

No chip (despite what they say) will make any difference to your MPG.

Thanks for the info. Was trying to see if there was a way of getting the diesel up to a decent power / torque range before buying. Looks like it

I had my 97 2.5 ECU re-mapped a few months ago, the RR has done some 110k miles and now it feels very good, i dont thrash it around but its good to have that extra thrust when you need it. I went to http://www.allisport.com and Andrew sorted it.

I can recommend him.

I fitted a PSI Powerbox (10 mins to put in, £369 inc Vat) and it give a lot more torque. Easily removeable, and run to Bolton, from Cheltenham last week before fitting gave 26mpg, this weekend, same run, same ish speed, 31mpg. No real wind to talk of etc, it really does work. I spend most of my time on the motorway and I am a happy man, my A6 only gave me 30mpg on the same run!

Only had my 99S DHSE 2 weeks and loving it!!

A very smug Milo!! ;) ;) :D :D ;) ;)

PS - PSI Powerbox bought from Tim Fry Landrovers in Cheltenham, use Yell to get the number. I am sure they do mail order if you ask.

You must have had a heavy foot in the Audi! My A6 2.6 gave me 35+ easily on the motorway @ 80. My P38 gets 28-30 @70-75 on the motorway depending on the motorway and the traffic conditions. If I put my foot down (i.e. 85+) I get 23-24.

It is difficult to draw conclusions based on one run. I regularly do 250+ mile trips and one day my RR will do 26mpg and the next it will do 30mpg with seemingly no difference in the way I drive! I'm pretty boring these days and stick the cruise on at 70mph, it doesn't seem to make any difference to how quickly I get anywhere, but does save a lot of fuel!

I've seen a few reports written where they have tested over 1000+ miles either side and found no difference in mpg before or after fitting a chip. Though there is no doubt that they do improve performance. I think the theory being that improved performance means you don't have to push the car so hard, but in reality people soon get used to the extra performance and use it!!

1.8T sport 2002 - only gave me about 30mpg, yes in that I did have a heavy right foot.......

Thats my point Matt, same speed (85mph mainly), more performance, less petrol - hence better MPG for the same trip!
