Chequer Plate?

Hi all

Am i right in thinking that if i put 3mm cheque plate on the wings and bonnet of my 110 59 plate it means i can haul my heavy ass (81kg) on to the wing tops and bonnet to get to the roof rack etc? without bu**ering up the wings and bonnet with dents?

Should be fine, I'm only 72kg, but no problems with the wings. Don't know about the bonnet. Generally use the ladder at the back to get up there though.

I've got wings and bonnet done with checker plate on my 59 plate for the same purpose and it works great, i'm 15stone.

my wings seem to stand up fine to my fat arse 16st on them, and my wings underneath were already dented from being stood on previously, I straightened them a bit before plating.

My landy came with 2mm chequer plate on em and I can confirm that the wings are unable to take the weight of my svelt physique without showing signs of bowing.

sincerest apologies Mick the builder, you are quite right 12.7 stone. I am a little gutted about having to take off my stilettos though :Cry:

I ment to say are they quite easy to fit? as in drill a hole and screw them down, so to speak.?

yep, mine took about an hour from start to finish (including getting and putting away tools.
I pop rivited mine. if you do it, start on the front end first when fixing, then if the curve isn't quite right (which mine weren't) you can attach the front then bend the rest down so it fits snugly.
If you start at the back, you will never get the front to curve over properly.

remember, measure, check, mark, check, then drill.
