Chequer plate assistance

hi all,
I’m after a bit of help please, looking for pre cut/manufactured chequer plate to go on the panel above the rear door on a 2005 Defender 90 (TD5)
I’m sure I saw one on Ebay some months back but don’t seem to be able to find anybody that sells it anywhere now!
Maybe I was dreaming, but I’m hoping someone here will be able to point me in the right direction.

Which panel are you referring to it is still early and i cannot work out which panel above the door would need chequer plate?
Does it have to be precut? You can buy full sheets fairly cheaply on ebay and could then make your own with some spare left over for other things.

Thanks for that, hadn’t really considered how easy it was to cut, and as you say left overs can be utilised elsewhere
 
Ah, another option is of course to give it a “damn good leaving alone” food for thought!
That would be my preference as well, I only have it on the wings and the bonnet because I stand on them regularly and they need the extra strength as I am not a svelte as I once was. I would not fit it it for any other reason.

I am still confused as to which panel you are referring to though

There is only one panel above the rear door.

It's quite difficult to stand on.

If it is that panel I am struggling to see why anyone would want to chequer plate it and what benefit it would be. I assumed he was referring to a different panel and I was missing something. If that is the case I retract my "get a sheet and make your own" and will instead recommend not doing it!

It’s that panel, and it was more a moments musing, I’ve been considering putting a few more Ali panels onto Larry as I quite like the look.
However on reflection and having googled a lot more photos I may have asked the question in haste, No Defender was drilled or harmed during the process.

Nothing wrong with liking the look, everyone's different but I, like most people, wonder what it's hiding.
 
If the 'Drover is quite old, it does raise suspicion what it is hiding, that is one thing LZ has taught me.

However, and I know this has been aired prior, some folk just don't take the advice

Agreed, that’s something I hadn’t really considered, what’s hiding or lurking underneath?
In my case nothing, and having read and considered I shan’t be proceeding with more than is on there already.
I certainly wouldn’t want to be driving something like the one shown above, but each to their own.
 
IMO chequer plate on anything except horizontal surfaces just looks tacky. Unless you are regularly driving off cliffs and need to stand on the back of the vehicle while it's at 90 degrees, I wouldn't bother.
