I changed the tensioner pulley on my 300 disco yesterday but unlike the other ones I have done, the AC pump was in the way so i couldn't get a crowbar in to lever it up to get the belt on. After an hour of trying and failing (lost my haynes manual) I came up with this way:

Get a strong length of metal and place down it between the fan and engine, underneath the nut on the tensioner, then put trolley jack underneath and CAREFULLY jack up on the bottom of the pole, pushing the tensioner up and giving you both hands to slip the belt back on properly :D probably not the safest way but it worked and solved the problem.

I think I was having a stupid moment, presumed that the nut would come undone before enough force was applied to move the arm. Sorry guys. Will delete.
