i just needed to put a full set of 4 new tyres on my rangie
i got 255/55/18it had prirreli scorpion st on it i looked every where and the cheapest set of 4 i found was 650 fitted so i trawled an trawled the internet

go to tyre shopper i found a set of 4avon sp brand new fitted for 425 supplied an fitted at national tyre if u go thru the national tyre site they over 500 go figure so im not after help just thought i would share an help:):):):):):):):):):)
 
Beware with fitting any old tyres to P38s - many absolutely hate it and the ride quality will change to hair-raising / tramlining (severe) and just downright dangerous......The P38 was meant to use Scorpion STs, but these have been out of production for a few years now and the STRs which replaced them, hav not always performed well on the P38. I found Pirelli Zeros to be good (but expensive)others on here have found General Grabbers and one or two others to perform well. Budget makes rarely suit the P38 and make for a horrible driving experience with the car wandering all over the road tramlining in every rut. You get what you pay for in the end, some cars are more tolerant of cheap tyres than the Rangie. Personally, I enjoy performance cars (and loved my Rangie) and the tyres are the only thing between the car and the road and my safety, so I pay for premium tyres that I know actually suit the car I'm fitting them on, as I value my life and safety and that of my passengers too much to scrimp on them........

Goodyear Wranglers work well on mine:D

Rangiegal, you just can't keep away even without your P38 can you? Bet the X5 forum is nowhere near as entertaining:) Maybe it's time to bin the X5 and get a supercharged:eek:

funnily enough I had an M5 15 yrs ago from new and took it back after 2 months and got all my money back as it was so bad and such an embarassment to bm went back toan XJR and all was well:)
 
Nothing wrong with some budget tyres at all.

When I got my P38 it has Nexen Roadian tyres on and they have been great for road use. Not terrible in the snow either.

When they are done, I'll buy a set myself and for £300 fitted, that's OK for me.

Mileage on them is about 27k - 30k I think.

I guess I could leave, Datatek......but lots of others seem to stay long after their P38s go :D As for supercharged, no thanks, my 4.8is X5 gets 24-30mpg which no supercharged would ever manage and it does it in great comfort :D:D

And I have a Kuga joining the fleet next week:cool: Its a company car, spares my X5 from starship mileages so I'm quite pleased. Even considered a new Freelander 2 for a moment as a company car :doh:

Maybe cars choose their owners like for like Datatek :p:p:p

I absolutely love my X5, but the Rangie is fondly remembered and will never be forgotten, as I had such a good 'un and I'm really pleased she went to an enthusiast - who knows, maybe he'll post on here sometime, he joined the forum.......:D Often, only the bad stuff about cars gets posted on forums, my Rangie was mechanically and electrically really good although it was never cheap to maintain her in that state, and she never let me down......

BMW dealers have been a LOT better than Land Rovers bunch of plonkers, though.......
