Hi everyone, I wonder if someone on here can help me. I don't own a Land Rover (although I did learn to drive in my dad's old series 2). I do have an LWB Austin Gipsy though, which I am told should share chassis bushings with a LWB series 3. Working on that theory I ordered myself some new poly bushes (I had the springs reforged) but can't get the buggers to fit. The bushes go into the chassis ok but when I put the insert in the bushes squeeze out. The chassis holes have an outside dia of what appears to be 1 1/16. Google tells me that Landies have 1 3/16 hole. Is that correct and is there a model with a diameter like mine or much closer to mine? Your advice would be much appreciated. The parts situation for Gipsy's no existent and I'm struggling! Thank you!!!!

I once did some driving in a LWB Gipsy, Towing horse trailer from Fishguard to Chepstow and back, I was exhausted by the time I got home.
It was a LWB ex police Black Maria. Interesting truck though and a local chap has a nicely restored Champ.
The Bush is cheap enough so by one and see.
There is an Austin Gipsy site where owners support each other with parts and maintenance issues.:)

Gipsys are great but they are not the most comfortable, especially if you are tall. I got the Landie bush tip from the Gipsy site (I can't go back and ask cos I deleted my farcebook account ;)). Trouble is they don't fit and I was just wondering if anyone on here knew what model of Landie might have a 1/16 dia chassis bush.

Just tap in "Austin Gipsy site " on Google to get you there. All the bushes on series are the same diameter, just different lengths.

You can machine poly pushes. They grind ok - its a bit messy and I believe you can turn them if you put them in the freezer. Never tried that. Personally I would bolt a washer on the size you want and shave it down with a sharp knife. I'm sure a 12 sided poly bush would work ok.
