Hi right long story but I am in West Africa right now with my beloved expedition prepped d2. Went in the sea a year ago, washed it off after but had to park the car up for a year. This german mechanic who has the car recons the chassis is buggered.

Doesn't look that bad to me, rubbed it down a year ago waxoyled it etc but the back end ain't too tidy, middle and front look fine, usual surface rust in places but no holes and sounds ok when I smack it with something.

Back end is definitely worse, got minute hole on a joint at the bottom and German said he saw holes when fuel tank was out, I didn't and I think he maybe a little over cautious. German mot is much much tougher than British one, you can't have visible repairs on chassis at all!

Give it to me straight, is this bad, if so surely I can get some welding done, this car has taken me months to build its totally unique so I really not want to have to take everything off and find a d2 with a better chassis, plus I have to drive back to uk in a few days!
Help!
Trying to upload photo but it won't let me on this ipad...can I email it someone to upload ....

Great stuff I thought this German was talking out his arse, he literally told me to get rid of it it's no good for off road use.... Couldn't believe it. This is our first trip in it! It's a 2004 too btw.
Heard dinitrol is worth doing, the waxoyl all seems to have come off.

The Kraut is defo talking nonsense. I've sorted way worse.

Also if you find any pin-holes, get them sorted rather that covering up. It will save grief in the ling run :)
