Considering some A/T Maxxis AT771 for my FL2, but the closest comparable size to my exisitng tyre (235 60 18) is a 255 60 18.

Looked at a few threads that seem to indicate it shouldnt cause any issues, but just wanted to confirm.

Any body else used these on their Freelander? Maxxis usually get slammed as rubbish, but generally speaking these et some pretty good reviews versus the competition at the price point.

Thanks in advance

I would think they'll fit, as there's plenty of space around the standard size tyres.

On my Freelander 1, yes.

They seemed to wear very slowly, grip on dry roads was good, in mud they clogged up, and grip in snow was terribly (worse than the cheap road tyres they replaced), wet grip seemed comparable with road tyres, but I soon got rid of the 771 simply because of the noise they made, which was hideous.

I much prefer the cheaper Yokohama Geolander AT/S , now called the Geolander AT g015.

Many thanks. I was also contemplating the Yokohama, but thought they were more expensive. Sounds like any extra will be worth paying for the advantages they will give.

Kind regards

I'd have the Geolander g015 over a Maxxis 771 any day. Definitely more civilised, with better grip, and aren't much more expensive, and they come in the correct size.
When my current tyres need changing, mine will get the Yokohama Geolander g015 too.
