Changing the barrel

Evening all

has anyone changed the ignition barrel on a td5 disco is it a big job and what do you do with the key ie how do you get it on the old fob.

Not shaw on changing the blade in the fob . But getting the barrel off was not to bad , had to do mine after one of the little key within the barrel dropped blocking the key from going in it , after taking off the trim the only tricky bit is the to safety nuts to undo . I used a centre punch and just taped them with a hammer until there started to turn them just used mole grips to finish undoing them , just take care with the ignition immobiliser coil that goes round the Barrel , I left this pluged in , the rest all just unplugs , if your going to take the barrel apart to clean or repair take it in doors and do it over a Tray,as there are many many little parts and springs .

Had trouble with mine about 18 months ago cleaned the barrel out with spray and lubricated with ground pencil lead worked a treat ever since. Do not use wd40 or oil
