i have had a look and cant see a thread saying how much of a headache it is changing from a 4.6 petrol to the 2.5 diesel. i have a complete diesel P38, to work with and a decent looking petrol one as well, the petrol is a 95, the diesel a 97. so i want to know whats the best way to go about changing over. ie, petrol tanks, ecu's, is the transmission different, both are automatics.. so advice from you seasoned P38 brain boxes would be appreciated.

It would be a lot easier to make the 97 look as decent as the 95, then burn the 95. Why would you go to all the bother of removing an engine from a 97 and putting it in a 95?

coz the 97 is a heap of crap inside and out.
the 95 is tip top,

Oh i see, looks like you have a serious amount of work on your hands then. Don't think you will get a blow by blow account of how to do it or what it involves. It is a suck it and see situation.

Gearbox ratios was my first thought.

this is what i mean, do i chenge the whole drive train, or swap diffs, think it might be a bad idea to even start this, but worth asking how much would be involved.
i keep looking at the petrol can and zippo, and go shooting instead

sod it all, looks like far too much hassle, so the diesel is going to get broken up for parts. so keep your eyes open on the for sale section.
