Booked my 3.9 RRC in on friday to have the centre exhaust box removed from my system. I have a 67mm full stainless system with tubular manifolds. Its just too quiet and refined.

Before I do it, should I put a straight pipe put in or a glasspack muffler? I want it to be loud and brash and I only drive her on sundays!

Remember at MOT time it can fail.

"A silencer in such condition, or of such a type, that the noise emitted from the vehicle is clearly unreasonably above the level expected from a similar vehicle with a standard silencer in average condition".

nice noise with no centre silencer but you'll soon get bored of the din. smallish centre silencer and remove back box.

Never saw the point of making something more noisy than it was, the V8's always sound nicest when they are original.

Most quoted: "It was nice at first but got tired of it on a run", says it all.

YMMV

Hmmm this was my concern. I dont really use her for long runs too often and mot is always a risk. Having said that I had a Honda when I was younger with a really loud exhaust and used to do 50 miles a day. I realised after just how much of a relief it was to have a quiet car! But it was ok.
I guess im going to try it and ill post the results on here. I have been warned:rolleyes:
If it really bothers me after a few months ill put a small glasspack back in its place. Thanks for the replies.

Don't forget that the Police and VOSA inspectors can issue a prohibition notice on your car if it is too noisy by virtue of a modification, it isn't just the MOT.

I believe this applies to post 2001 cars only (section 59) and from my noise pollution days in the council, you could only get an epa90 notice if you parked on your drive revving the engine. MOT is a roadworthy test and my tester is not bothered my loud exhausts on classic cars. Ive got a 1yr old baby though so past 7pm and before 6am, I couldnt fire up a noisy car anyway! Its just that I need to release some v8 noise, well not some, loads :)

It's not as loud as I thought

Sorry the video is cr@p, it's only me and the boy around today and he's too short to rev it whilst I film!

There is a booming resonance but it's no worse than my old Honda was.

I'm really happy with it, it sounds wicked :D

But I can vouch that it's not to everyone's taste.
