Hi all,

I have a 1999 mk1 and have some issues with the locking procedure.
Essentially, the car will unlock on the key in the drivers door or with the fob. However only the drivers door unlocks. Neither the passenger or back door unlock, it's a 3 door btw, unless you press the central unlocking switch on the dashboard an then they both open. Wierd!
The rear door will not open on the key either. Any solutions? Does the rear window need recalibrating?

HELLLLPPPPPPPP!

sounds like it might be a case of rtfm.

However, key won't unlock tailgate from tailgate keyhole. push and hold unlock button, rear window should drop, drive it back up by using key in tailgate keyhole.

you can also unlock all doors from drivers door, turn it once, drivers door unlocks, release and turn again, they should all open.

good luck

What is RTFM?

The key doesn't open the the tailgate from the tailgate keyhole?

Thanks

Let me help you.

RTFM means 'Read the f***ing manual'.

Maybe you don't have a manual of course, or are too lazy to read it first.

Using the key in the rear door is for lowering the rear window - not unlocking the doors.

The remote key fob if pressed once, should only unlock the driver's door.
pressing a 2nd time will unlock the other doors including the rear door.

Turning the key in the driver's door lock will unlock only the driver's door, you must release the key in the lock and turn it a 2nd time to unlock the others.

Perhaps you upset a few sensitive peeps by describing exactly what normally takes place and calling it 'not working properly'! Very defensive of our machines we are on here.

It actually sounds to me like it's working OK, but not what you expected.

I haven't put a key in any lock on my FL for over 5 years - never found the need to.

I've never found a situation where I needed to open the rear window while standing outside the car either - but LR made it that way.

If your remote does not do what I have described above then you could try a re-sync.

If you don't know how to re-sync and haven't a manual - get back to us.

And just to confuse further  The key in the tailgate lock is to put up the window, to put it down press and hold the unlock button on the fob until the window goes down.

How does one resynch the key fob?

dont worry too much about not knowing the keyfob stuff mate. ive had shed loads of cars and didnt realise the double lock unlock on the fob either and didnt realise you could download the manual either. i went so far as to pulling the rear handle off in an attempt to open the back and only realised the double unlock when a friend tried to get in the passenger seat and then it twigged as the last of the vectras had the same thing. dont take the ribbing and ****taking too hard as its a good site and invaluable aid in f.l ownership. you will get even worse from the disco or defenders owners but thats usually because their pigs on its monthly or the floors dropped out of their tin boxes again.

I Know You Have A Manual I? W? T? It? Going???????????????
