Hi all, problem with 2005 range rover sport diesel.key fob not working central locking when i bought car.thought key was at fault, got a new key took it to get synched.mechanic says both keys are working but still will only start car but central locking still not working from fobs.Work fine with buttons on dash, then suddenly did work three or four times yesterday.then stopped working again.

Simple things first. Have you put new battery in? Have you tried to synch yourself, so you know correct procedure is being carried out? There are different synch for different fails. I know @Saint.V8 has written up the synch somewhere on here.

hi

i’ve got a D3 so don’t know if this will be any help , the key is a conductive one, the battery gets recharged through the ign lock when u have the engine running , so maybe it’s flat and just needs recharging via the ign

tape the fobs together and they will recharge at the same time when the engine is running

also this is my re synch

1. Enter vehicle close door
2. on dash lock /unlock twice
3. Insert key in ignition do not start then take key out
4. Advised that key removal should trigger locking and unlocking C/L reaction
5. press unlocking button on fob followed by three depressions of locking

however once there programmed together that should be it, so either flat battery or RF faulty receiver, sometimes sunroof can leak and allow water to drip onto the unit in the roof ??

also make sure the new key is 433mhz it will be on the side of the plastic fob

plus if i may add as a quick heads up, have u checked the front and rear belts have been done and oil pump cover assembly , belts 105,000 miles or 7 x years, issue with oil pump cover is normally from 2007 but known to have issues before that, well documented

hope that may help ???

hi
i must admit once there programmed i’ve never had to resynch them, only thing i’ve had like u say is where the battery has gone flat , alas the battery is soldered in so i just bought a new complete fob via ebay ,

pain is they only recharge via the ign lock when the engine is running

another issue i found was some of the fobs weren’t 433mhz so wouldnt work

hi,all problem was to wires below passenger sill problem one sorted.New problem seem to be getting a bit of hunting when engine is under load, when i have caravan on the back or going uphill. No problem on steady speed on motorway.Read some threads and been pointed towards torque converter problem,is this common fault

hi

great to hear it’s been resolved

ref the gearbox have u checked the ATF oil level and when it was last changed , make sure u don’t use any dexron atf in ur gearbox

what’s the mileage plse

if ur unsure how to change and check the level can post up a the procedure for u

Hi 117000.on a 2.7 diesel.just had gearbox oil and filter changed.

thks, do u know what atf oil they used plse, as indeed read a lot if the wrong oil is used it can really upset the boxes

as it’s just been changed do u know if they reset the adaptive software

did u have issues before the oil was changed

do not know what atf was used but did ask for correct to be used.do not know if software was reset.will ask tomorrow issue was there before and is only slight but was just wondering if could be sorted before it became a big problem.thank you will check with garage

thks, always best to double check what oil they used, some have put dr tranny in the gearbox but is only a temp fix, when the tc goes they go and only true fix is to replace them

indeed best to get them fixed before it starts getting into rebuilding gearboxes etc

plus they can also 100% check it is ur TC, inc any fault codes

plse let us know how u get on

Hi Just a quick update, correct oil was used, but been a small local garage which as just started trading, there laptop would not accept R r sport,so adaptive software was not reset,is this something that needs resetting as nearest landrover dealer is a hundred mile drive

Adaptive settings in the gearbox is only for learning hydraulic pressures to ensure a smooth gear change depending on driver style.....if you change out clutch discs etc, then the required pressure modulations may change due to different characteristic,s but with an oil change there would be no need.

hi

that’s very interesting ref the adaptive settings and know ur very knowledgeable when it comes to these

indeed got the ATF oil for mine and will be changing it soon, will also get the transfer case update at the same time ,

aplogises , didn’t want to step into someone else’s thread
