Hi

My rear offside central locking unit had packed up.

Has anyone ever tried to repair on of these?

Any idea of the cost of a new unit?

Hi Andy, how do you know that it's the central locking unit, rather than any other cause?

Can you please describe the problem you are experiencing in more detail?

Power getting to the Unit OK

Has been getting sticky unlocking for a while now, takes 2-3 zaps the get lock to lift

Now will not unlock on the C/Locking fob or switch

So that rules out the fob and fob battery then. Have you tried unlocking the car from the inside, pulling up the drivers door button?

I believe I'm right in saying that the setup is master and slaves, the master unit being on the drivers door and the slaves are all the other doors.

Just a quick point, by trade I am an Electronics engineer and therefore have isolated the fault to the unit.

As it and the lock are one whole assy I wanted to know if once out of the car it was fixable or to buy a replacement part before i take it out and it is a sealed unit etc.

Ok mate, you obviously know what you are doing - was just trying to help:eek::eek:

There are 2 motors within.......if u can limb it and reach the core u might be able to respool the winding i guess.......could be an interesting experience :)

Just an update

Replaced unit with one from e-bay thanks Dave

the central locking unit is pratically a sealed unit and therefore would be hard to repair due to the amount of parts that need stripping just to get to the motors

Hi Andy, I'm pleased that you got it sorted out mate.

Cheers
Dave
