D1. When I activate the central locking on the fob to open the doors, the drivers side lock springs open as you’d expect. However, when I actually open the door using the handle the lock lock catch drops about 2mm and re-locks the door. So I have to hold it up with the key to get in. Any ideas? Is this a common fault?

It appears to be a common fault although it never happened with my D1, the door pin dropping back down slightly is a symptom of an iffy lock spring, info at the top of the Forum page " Disco door spring how to" or some thing similar, and 'pinned' to page one... which your on now.

Ok OK. Thanks. I wasn’t aware that these symptoms were caused by the springs - off to EBay I go...
Thanks for pointing that out

what discool said. happened on both my D1's, its a tiny little spring which breaks in the lock mechanism. fiddly job to do though not technical. on the front, you have to unscrew the window frame to get at the lock bolts. the rear is easier. once you've done one door, you'll do the others in half the time. you can get a set of springs for about 3 or 4 quid.
