Hi all,

My brother has a freelander 1, this morning when pushing the remote button all the other doors lock and unlock fine except the drivers door. This will unlock fine with the key manually. Can you steer us in the right direction anyone?

Thanks for any help!

Sounds like the same fault that my 1998 Freelander has, it will lock all doors with the fob but unlocks all but the drivers door so I need to use the key for that. Very likely to be a faulty locking motor which is contained within the door latch/lock mechanism. Only option is to replace this.

I have a similar problem with mine, the fob unlocks the two passenger side doors and the rear door but not the drivers side doors. Unfortunately i can't get the key in the drivers door, at some point i think the tiny bit of metal that covers the keyhole has been bent at some point. It means i have to lean across and open the drivers door from the inside.

I've had this problem since i bought the car, unfortunately with living in a rural environment then i disn't always lock my car so it wasn't until a week after i bought the car that i noticed the problem after locking the car in a retail park car park. I asked the previous owner about it but he claimed to have no knowledge of the problem (surprise surprise).

I'm not overly bothered about the central locking working, as long as i could unlock the door with the key but i've been told it'll be over £100 to fix at the very least.

i had that problem on my 03 plate TD4 5 door, got the looking mech from a scrap yard, (part came off a 3 door but still fit fine) paid £20 for it and spent about 4 hours getting annoyed with it. very fiddly but got there in the end. Good luck. Chris.
