Hi guys n gals

Finally replaced the door actuator to "fix" my central locking with one from Maplins, but now it does this:

Central locking doesnt work on the key at all.

If I use the remote (one button) the alarm unit clicks and all the actuators click - but none of them lock the doors. The alarm does arm though.

If I cycle the c/l with the remote (with door cards off) the actuator in the drivers door retracts if its extended, but doesnt do the reverse, ie it stays retracted when I hit the button again.

I'm no auto electrician but I connected the new Maplin actuator up as follows (got this from another landy site).

New unit Black to black on disco wiring
Brown to brown/pink
Green to pink
White to yellow/pink
Blue to orange

Could it not be the actuator at all maybe??

Any help whatsoever would be fanatastic!

Thanks!

Rich

Have u tried the locking manualy ie operate the new actuator by hand. There are micro switch/s within the actuator that because the armature is not fully extending/or contracting they don't operate fully, as u know now there's a small amount of adjustment in the fixing holes for the actuator and so a adjustment of even 2mm and it all works. I had this problem when fitting a Cobra alarm and remote CL to my RRC the problem was all down to the adjustment.

If not the above then double check your connections get it locking with the key first, and if thats ok, then with the remote is the next thing to get operating. All problems like must be done in stages otherwise it's 'brain damage'.

Good luck & regards

Ah that tells me something!

I obviously didnt take my time. I just hit the button and saw the actuator move one way & thought the worst. Then I just let the thing hang in the door and tried that - NUMPTY!!

Not being auto electric savvy , i didnt realise it all had to be adjusted etc!!

Many thanks for the reply Discool, I shall very red facedly try again & report back!!

Doh!

this may sound stupid but i had a problem with my passenger door locking but i also had a problem with my car battery so i got a new one and lost the door locking problem

The actuator/servo's all 5 of them do require some power from the vehicles battery to operate. If there is one servo that has a tendency to stick or is weak in it's operation and the battery power is reduced, as in a battery on it's way out, it will no operate every time.

Fitting a new battery as u say the problem has gone.

In my case I don't use the disco during the week so on Saturday morning the rear nearside door dosen't unlock but after a few miles to charge the battery all is ok.
