Central bloody locking

Hi, thanks once again for the reply. I’m getting really fed up with this. Excuse my complete lack of knowledge regarding this subject. So, if I were to replace all of the locks and ecu, what would I then have to do?. What sort of place would do the set up?. Are we talking about taking it to a stealership, or could an independent Range Rover specialist do this for me?. Cheers,
Andy

If replacing the central locking related ECUs all you’ll need is a new BCU. If replacing the locks on the car then that’s more complex as you’ll need to replace the EWS, engine ecu, ignition lock, door locks, glovebox lock as a matched set.

You can do all that yourself as it should all be synched from the donor car

You may need to program keys for the remote but that’s a manual process anyway.

So, if I were to buy a set like this providing that it had all come from the same car and was all previously synced together, I should just be able to replace all of the parts and my problem would be solved?.
That would please me, greatly. Thank you for all of the great advice.

The BCU will need to be coded to the car, easiest way is for the dealer to read the current BCU store as a file, replace the BCU with the replacement and write the stored file back to the 'new' BCU.

The BCU stores vehicle specific information and needs to be copied across

We could also be talking about a total loss of communications on the K bus (I think it is the K bus for security/central locking etc!!)

There’s very little difference to the BCU coding between models and if it’s been coded already it can be plug and play.

That kit looks as if it has everything you need and as long as it is all from the same car then you’re good to go. Is there two keys with that set? Only issue is replacement keys will be a nightmare as they’re off a different VIN.

Unfortunately there’s only one key with this set. I won’t buy it because of that. I’ve been offered up a few sets from different breakers with 2 keys. I’m looking at about £300 for a kit.
