Hello guys, my central locking has stopped working on my 2005 l322 td6. No response whatsoever from the key fob. I’ve had a look at previous threads in order to try and resolve this issue. I’ve tried resyncing the key, I’ve done the turn the key on and off in the ignition followed by pressing the open key and pressing the lock key 3 times. The key fob flashes about 10 times after doing this but, does nothing. I’ve tried this many times, nothing. Last night I disconnected the battery to charge it. Would this affect the central locking?. Any advice would be much appreciated. Many thanks, Andy

Thanks for the clever reply. I have a problem with my central locking, if you can’t help, **** off.
Wind your neck in pal.....ain't no need for that.

The response was valid - the door has a key hole - so in the meantime, us this until you get the CL sorted out....

Disconnecting the battery could be a clue if it was working before you did this.....Is the fob lighting up when you press the buttons as this you don't mention.

Does the key start the engine and unlock the steering lock?

If so, this means the EWS system recognises the transponder in the key.....

I'll have to read RAVE and see what the system does and doesn't do with the unlock/lock signal.....but it is bedtime, and you need to cool your jets in any case!

Thank you kindly for your reply. The key fob does light up when pressed. The door lock has at some time been changed so, I have a different key to open the door. When using the key, only the drivers door lock opens. The central locking is not engaged. The alarm goes off until the ignition key is inserted into the ignition. It was working before the battery was removed.

The central locking was a bit sluggish for a few days prior to it giving up. I thought that this was because the battery in the key fob needed changing. I put in a new battery and this seemed to help for a day or so. But it soon became sluggish again.

It actually resets the BCU if it goes to sleep so may actually fix your problem...

However shove your attitude up your arse and struggle with your car!
Hi, I apologise for my previous comment. Have been a tad stressed. Will try not to be so touchy. I’m sorry.

Ok hate to point out the obvious but have you put any diagnostics on the car and if so do any faults come up. I have the same year and model as you and I can say that the l322 does some very strange things , it may not even be the locking system that is at fault , I had an air suspension fault pop up earlier in the year that was caused by removing the sat nav system, many of the non vital systems are all connected so something can go wrong with one system and affect another, best get some diagnostics on it

No worries - sorry I didn’t explain myself well in my original post.

Anyways, back to the issue with your car - when you press the locking/unlocking button on the dash does it do anything? That helps pinpoint a little to whether the issue is with the remote locking or all central locking activities.

Hi, the central locking button on the dash is functioning as it should. I’ve mentioned previously about having to use a key and lock from a breakers to gain entry to the car, which sets the alarm off. When locking the car with the same key the central locking engages.

So, refresh the brain.....

You have two keys......one for the door lock (physical) and one for the ignition...?

You are currently opening the car with the door key, then starting with the ignition key.....yes?

Previously you were able to unlock/lock using the ignition key remotely....? Now you can't...?

The alarm will go off because as far as the car is concerned it hasn't recieved a signal from an 'authorised' source...i.e. the remote signal from a synced key....and will set the alarm off until it recognises the correct key signal - which is done when you place the ignition key into the barrel and the coil picks up the transponder in the key......the alrm switches off and the engine re-mobilises.....this system is working exactly as it should.

Have you tried.....

Put the Door Key in the door lock, turn to lock and press the ignition key unlock button, now turn the key to unlock and press the ignition key unlock button.....get in and start the engine with the ignition key.....

Turn off the engine, get out, close the door and see if you can lock/unlock using the ignition key remotely now.....

This is because the car may need to see a physical key movement coupled to a remote signal......

It may work, it may not, but worth a shot.....

Jesus Christ, what happened to press button get in start engine!!!
Or.... Put key in lock open door start engine....
Put a padlock hasp on the door..:p

Hi, thank you for replying. I’ve just tried what you suggested, unfortunately nothing happened. I do have a question: if I were to buy a set of all 3 locks and an Ecu from a breakers, would everything be synced and ready to go?. Just change the locks, replace the Ecu, hey presto?.
Cheers, Andy

Oh well that was worth a go I suppose....

As for buying a lock set - the system will need to be properly coded back to the rest of the vehicle security system....it is not just the EWS unit, but that will need to be setup to the BCU etc....

Hi, thanks once again for the reply. I’m getting really fed up with this. Excuse my complete lack of knowledge regarding this subject. So, if I were to replace all of the locks and ecu, what would I then have to do?. What sort of place would do the set up?. Are we talking about taking it to a stealership, or could an independent Range Rover specialist do this for me?. Cheers,
Andy

In the rear fuse box is a 5 amp fuse (fuse 14) for the RF receiver check that is ok

Does the tailgate release work from the key?
Hi, the tailgate does not release by pressing the key. I’ll have a look at the fuses, tomorrow.
Cheers, Andy
