Hi, i just got a cd changer, philips type and it wont eject, its the second one i've had like this. just got the car and wondered if i just doinsomethin daft or just unlucky!! Anyone Help?

if it's the underseat type, does it actually play the discs stuck inside it ? If nothings going on at all, it may have lost power and would be worth checking the connections at both ends. Contrary to the landrover manuals, you can fit and remove the underseat version without removing the seat, you just have to be adept at working blind upside down. When you get the multi changer out, there should be an emergency release button (small and recessed, needs to be pressed with a biro tip)

Please supply more information:

a. Is the equipment new or second hand?
b. Did you install the equipment yourself?
c. Does the equipment perform correctly apart from an inability to eject?

D...

I bought it second hand, i also bought the freelander second hand without one installed. This is the second one ive tried and tried resetting it without even managing to get any discs in it!!! So what do i do now??? my tape collection is getting far too dismal!!!

not had a disk in it yet, is underseat type but only yet pluged it in and not fitted, just one wire out of changer and straight to back of radio, cant even eject with manual didly underneath!

did it have a empty cartridge in it while being transported? cos sometimes they can get jammed up inside. the only way to un jam em is to take it apart and remove it. it only happen with empty cartridges as the cd's in a full one keep the slots in the right place.

if you can get it out of the f/l then the only option is to open up the changer and there will be a release button on the body , may have a small round disc over it to stop dust etc . if the magazine wasn't full then this is why it jams. my alpine manwell says that the changer must be fully loaded with discs to avoid jamming and miss alinement.i have opened mine and boy there are loads of tiny springs and bits in there. took a while to get the cds back into the holders in there but now its fine.

good luck mate.

i have to agree with yer , mainly because i've already told him the very same thing

If its definately a Philips, then try the reset button with an opened paper clip (seen when cover open).

If that does not work, check wiring to CD Changer (DIN plug) and black plug (10 pin) to Head unit.

Also the manual eject, it needs to be moved in 1 direction with a screwdriver. There should be a sticker (clear) saying eject with an arrow

Jeez Im sad!! :)

I would be dubious if two units are duff - The RC026 is a very reliable unit and I have seen very few fail!!

Regards,

Steve
