CD Changer on Discovery

Hi All anyone fitted a CD Changer to a Discovery. I have an Alpine Unit that I have removed from the dashboard to fit the connecting cable and can not find any space for the cable to be routed behind the unit. I will be placing the CD Changer under the drivers seat.
Please help

Thanks Mad Hat Man, I have done that and everything is fine. I need the next step now. There doesnt appear to be any space for additional cable to be fed behind the dash. tried several times and only have cut knuckles?
Any suggestions

Last time i saw one - the wires were fed under the centre console / gear lever surround and then behind the dash.

not quite sure what you're asking - are you fitting a new cd changer to your existing head unit & want to know where to route the cable ? - what is your head unit, is it the R990 ?

on the 'Hi-Line' system (factory fitted cd changer & power amlpifier) the cable goes from the back of the head unit to the CD changer under the drivers seat so ther should be room at the back for the cable.

I have a factory fitted Alpine TDM-7576R Stereo Cassette which I have removed from the dashboard. On removing the unit I was expecting room for the cable from the Stereo to the CD Changer. The CD Changer an Alpine CHM-630 is a retro fit unit, purchased seperately. I will be fitting the cable via the centre console to the drivers seat.

This is a very straightforward swap. You just have a single din (8 pin IIRC) at the back of your head unit. Simply plug the blue cable in, route the wire and away you go.

The CHM-630 comes with a variety of brackets for different mountings.

Thats good, you have the same head unit and CD changer as me. IIRC access is tight at the back of the head unit but just enough room.

Had a few cut knuckles but worth saving the £55 fitting charge I was quoted. Just another question you may be able to help with. I have a Land Rover Discovery 2.5 ES Automatic and when the engine is warm the heater works fine. When I am stationary the heater appears to blow cold air out. Is this the same on your Disco?
