Chaps, Getting error message ' No magazine' on head unit. Magazine is loaded, however no response from Green eject botton,it seems dead. Any ideas ??

2001 4.6 Vogue:confused:

The £75 service refers to the head unit (Radio) I think not the CD changer.
Does it make any noises inside when you press the eject button?..if not, check that youare getting 12V. to it.
If does sound as though it's trying to eject, probably there is a disc jammed inside, remove the unit, take the cover off and all will be revealed, the disc may be warped, it usually happens when "Naughty" burned copies are used. You may scratch (Wreck) the CD in removing it.

if it's anything like the units in the discovery they stop responding all together if they get a disc jammed, presumably to prevent damage.. take it out and open the covers, you will see some little cogs and gears.. you will also probably see a disc 1/2 out of the reader section on its way back to the magazine.. gently experiment with turning the cogs and gears until you find the one that moves the disc, remove all the discs and the magazine, pop it all back together and start again..

Cheers, I like the jammed disc theory. No noise at all from unit when eject button hit.Its definatly Alpine.I will attempt to remove discs.if all fails i will strike it swiftly with a toffee hammer!

This might sound silly but i had the same problem. Mine was installed in the vertical position in the boot and would not eject.
However i have re insatlled it laying flat and it now works perfectally well.
Just an idea.
