CB radio's

Used to have one when i was a kid - loved it. It was on am frequency. Want one for my Disco - am or fm? does anyone actually use them anymore? Are the kits where you get rig ,swr, aerial etc any good.
I would love to get back into it if there are plenty of people using them.

Make sure you add a PA system to it, as they great fun.

I picked up everything I needed from ebay, £15 CB (midland 3001), £5 mic, £15 arial + mount, £5 swr meter.

All I hear is static and the odd trucker.

To be honest I only got it so i could have the mic dangling from the roof in a convoy sytle.....

It's time I got the PA bit set up....

i got mine in there now, just gutter mount aerial, hand set and unit, wire it in and away i went, use it round liverpool as the rest of the lads have them and for when we go off roading as its very easy to loose each other on the sites we went plus i wanna get into laning now to will be getting used for that.

No AM was illegal back in the 80's it just FM but most new rigs have 80 channels 40 for the UK and 40 for the rest of the EU

i still use an old york jcb863 but it does the job

Well , i'm curently looking around for a nice cb set so the question is : what would be a good set-up , i know President makes nice cb-radio's but what would you advice....

When looking around at Ebay i see a lot of sets named Allan/Midland , are these the same?

SSB is fun when the sunspot activity is high - which it isn't.

was great last summer ,ssb was coming in from all over the place ..............................oldham,stockport,etc ,lol
