cause of breakdown????

driving backdown the motorway the other day with caravan attached my 300tdi auto lost all power so i ended up on the hard shoulder,no warning lights nothing!!!!left it for approx 30 seconds turned the key and it fired up got hme and have had no problems since .....does any one have any ideas as to wtf happened or do i just leave alone as everything appears to be working since.....any help greatly appreciated

30 seconds or a little while?Notice the temp move at all?Serviced lately?

I had the same thing one day with my old 300tdi. Engine died on it on the way to swansea. I'd just fitted a new cambelt prior to setting off so was expecting the worst. I pulled onto the hard shoulder and tried to start it again. It fired first time. It never happened again. I put it down to alarm spider.
