I've developed a rattle in my cat, usually when i start up from the vibration. Also when i get it up on ramps and give the center box or cat a good shake you can hear the cat rattling. I've also had **** fuel comsumption lately and it hasn't been as quick off the mark as usual.

Reckon replacing the cat would fix fuel/performance issues? Obviously it'd fix the rattle lol.

They do em for about £40/50 on ebay and a few sites. What would u guys recommend?

if its a diesal hippo you've got, just ditch the cat all together, whether it be with a replacement section of pipe, or cut the cat open and smash the guts out and weld it back up, the point is "cats" on diesals are not part of an MOT test, as they only perform a smoke density test, I got told once they hav'nt actually invented the equipment to test cats on diesals yet, Ive done away with the cat a few times in the past, and my cars have always flown thru the MOT, infact Ive been thinkin of removin it of my Td4 lately!

:confused:You don't seem to read of people decating the TD4 for some reason. May be the gains are so small it's not worth it. Anyone seen a decat pipe available for TD4s??

My point wasnt that a great deal of performance could be gained, it was purely a case of, if its playin up, remove it, why waste money on something thats not needed, although it has to be said you do notice a difference when the cats removed, not massively, just a case of smoothing things out more!, also I dont know if you've ever seen the inside of a cat??, but you tell me how anything of that type of construction can be good for any engine!!

also I think if I remember seeing a de-cat pipe for the Td4 offered by JR engineering(I think thats what there called?), because the last Td4 I had, I rang a few places to get prices for a full stainless system and de-cat.

this wot yu are looking for? Although i notice it says defender td4!!!
