Hi everyone! I recently rescued a 2003 L322 from the junkyard and managed to fix a nasty coolant leak. However, I'm now stuck on a stubborn misfire issue. I tore down the engine a bit and checked all the injectors, and they seem fine. But my Land Rover is throwing two codes: a misfire on cylinder 8 and a P0208 code indicating poor performance in the fuel injector on cylinder 8. The misfire is much more noticeable at idle than when driving.

I swapped the injector from cylinder 8 with cylinder 2 to see if the code would move, but it stayed on 8. I've also swapped the plug and coil with different cylinders, but the problem remains. I'm leaning towards an electrical issue. I should also mention that when I pulled the spark plug, it was covered in carbon and it had only been in there a couple of days. The plug still works because I swapped it over to cylinder 3 and the car wasn't throwing a code but it might help explain something.

Has anyone encountered this before? Are there any easier ways to check the PCM or wiring without having to check everything for continuity? Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated!

Have you done a compression test on all cylinders? testing just one is meaningless without knowing the relative compression of the others.
Yes sorry I forgot to mention that but they were all the same around 160 if I remember right. That might not be exactly it but in the moment I checked online and it looked like they were within normal ranges.

Carbon build-up is usually indicative of poor injection quality, leaking injector or compression / valve leakage issues. Given the coolant leak, I'd be spending more time on good old mechanical issues rather than electrical. IIRC compression range has a permissible variance of 10% with a specification of 12Bar so you're approaching that.
I'd suggest doing accurate compression tests again with a cold and hot engine and then re-assess if you're wasting your time.
