your shogun must be a heap

Nah but it was 100hp compared to 165 in the Rangie and it's natural state was 2wd so it would slither to a halt for you to select 4wd and then refuse to get going again.:doh::doh: Mind you that was with 3 tonne on the trailer. Permanent 4wd avoids the slither to a halt bit:D:D:D

If you want to go proper Pikey Gav, you need to look at Hobby or Tabbert. German makes that are well built and usually have much nicer interiors. You do know you can tow upto 3.5 tonnes with your wagon ?

i buy/sell caravans for a living so sort of depend on a good towing mota, ive had 1 shogun 2 pajeros 1 dse and drove another dse and a 4.6 and the best tow vehicle out the lot was my 95 pajero 70.000 miles on the clock it never failed and always towed with no downsides... now for motorway towing i prefered the dse for comfort but not for towing capabillities.. its a personal choice but for me the pajero wins hands down :D

I guess it depends on the model of Shogun/Pajero, some were more powerful than the two I have had and some have a centre diff and some do not. Mine did not which meant 4wd on tarmac was a complete no no.
Very reliable though.

Aye i'll second that...i never needed 4 wheel drive towing, vans we bring in are upto a max of around 1700kgs wouldnt like to tow 3t, but as well all know the p38 is the best looking mota :)

I tow 2.5 tonne from time to time as I have an excavator. My Trannie will do the job if it's road access but anything else and it's now the P38. We holidayed in the UK in May with the caravan and the Rangie went up the Pennines no trouble, it was even possible to overtake:eek::eek::eek: My previous 4 X 4 was a Hyundai Galloper (Pajero copy), that used to be down to 40kmh on long uphill motorway drags with the caravan. Embarrasing to overtaken by fully loaded 44 tonners:(:(:( Couldn't afford a more modern Pajero, so it had to be a Rangie. Now I have it I'm really pleased as it is sooooo comfortable:D:D:D:D
