Can anyone tell me if they have problems with Defender 90 XS getting into multi-storey carparks?

If the car parks round your way are anything like ours, it'll depend very much which one, cause they'll all quite different. There's one in Reading that my RR only has about 2" clearance with roof, so Defender won't fit at all, and I have to watch out for bumps, but others are no problem.

We don't know how tall your 90 is. Suspension? Tyres? Roof rack? And as kernow says above all car parks are different. So the answer is................don't know.

Thanks both for the response. The 90XS Country Wagon is supposed to be 1963mm high - at least that what it says in the handbook. I have added nothing to it. I suppose the question is: do people often experience problems with this type of vehicle and m/s carparks? I have a feeling I will be ducking every time I go into one!

Thing is that car park heights are 'nominal' ... ie they're built by the monkeys of the council to a price, not a specification and just 'cos it says 2m doesn't mean it's 2m.

In my Disco I've been under a 1.8m carpark beam and couldn't get under a 2.1m!! The 2.1 probably was 2.1, but it was set exactly where a flat bit, the road, turns into a steepish ramp to the car park, so effectively lowering the height of it ... ;)

I just stay away from that type of car park. Just because you've got in the door doesn't mean the won't be somewhere inside that catches you. I spose living in a rural area and having a natural aversion to shopping helps though.

It's not just multi-storey carparks that can be a problem. Many open air carparks have height restrictions too. I only have 2" clearance on the park and ride carparks in Bath. They have alligator strips underneath the height bar anorl. I have to drop to a crawl so as to keep what's left of my roof intact.

Stupid ferry booking man wrote 2.05m instead of 2.5m Thirty minutes of stripping the roof and letting all the air out we squeezed in -

I chuckled at that pic Rhubarb :)

I did when I was taking it.

But the forty five minutes of mayhem before the boat left? Whilst seriously hung over, clearing Turkish immig/customs whilst arguing with ships captain and madly trying to save extra cm's - not so much.

i dont even bother trying, a 7 foot 5 defender isnt ever gonna fit into a multi storey, so i just keep a wide berth

Oh dear! It's all part of the experience though :D

I don't even try, multi-storeys, open car parks with height restrictions are a serious no-no with my Series. 9.00 tyres saw to that.

Yes I was caught by the get into the car park, in my series 2, got under the bar ok, then hit virtually every fluorescent light till I got out of there, didn't hang round to find out the damage.
