Hi all
I have got me hands on a friary capstan winch and it got the usual bits missing, Drive shaft + UJ + "Rope guide roller" etc.
What I would like is some information from anyone who has one to allow me to make up the parts required.

1. How high is it to the bottom of the "rope guide roller" from the bumper?
2 Does the rope go under or over the "rope guide roller" ?

Any close up pictures of the rope guide and the UJ drive shaft would be appreciated.
Thanks
Clivees

Had this bunch in me favourites from ages ago, they seem to make some replacement parts. Was about to send you the other link I had.....but you posted it yerself back in January!

From memory, but I haven't seen one used in anger for years, the rope goes over the roller/fairlead...........but that might also depend on what you're using it to pull i.e. something high or low.

That welding passed !???!!!!
Ace. If you want the whole section cutting out and welding up with 1 neat plate in the future then give us a shout and get us some really good metal.

HI Clivees
Pic attached to help explanation
the major roller diameter is 1.25" and 14 inches long, it is reduced to 0.75" dia at each end for 0.4" long for the brackets (overall length 14.8")

the brackets are made from 0.25" plate the holes in btm to match base plate are 0.5" clearance and approx 2.45" between centres.
the bracket length is 3.5" and overall width 1.5"

the hole for the roller shaft is neat fit for the 0.75" shaft
the height from underside of bracket to centreline of shaft is 1.875"

the brackets have approx 1" radius around the hole
